FAQ
Q. What is a zine?
A. A zine is a self-published, non-commercial “magazine”, typically focused on a single subject. Traditionally, zines are hand-made, physical booklets, but they can take many forms!Q. Is this zine physical or digital?
A. We can guarantee that there will be a free digital copy of the zine for anyone to download. If there is enough interest, we may release a physical copy and potentially merch alongside it.Q. How much will the zine cost?
A. The digital version will be free! If a physical edition is made, we will ask people to at least cover the cost of shipping.Q. How can I contribute?
A. This zine will feature art and writing. Written pieces should be somewhere in the range of 500 to 1500 words. (This is a flexible range.) Contributor applications will be linked to this Carrd and posted on our Twitter and Tumblr when they’re available.Q. What do I need to provide in my application?
A. We recommend sharing a Google Drive or Dropbox folder containing art/writing you want to provide. For artists, we would like to see at least one Splatoon/Coroika related drawings to show that you can draw Inklings and/or Octolings. For writers, we would like at least one completed piece of writing that is at least 500 words long. All media must be SFW.Q. How many pieces can I contribute?
A. We ask that everyone begins with contributing only one piece of art and/or writing. If you finish your piece(s) before the final due date and would like to contribute more, reach out to the hosts.Q. Can I collaborate with other artists/writers?
A. Yes, you can collaborate with other people who have been accepted to the zine! Just let us know who you’re partnering with.Q. Is shipping allowed?
A. We do not allow shipping in the zine. We ask artists and writers to focus on the platonic relationships between characters.Q. Are headcanons allowed?
A. Yes, as long as the characters are recognizable. We ask that you keep two distinguishing features from the original design. For example, Octoling Army would be allowed if he has his facepaint and is wearing at least one piece of his regular gear. If you have any questions about your headcanon design, reach out to the mods and we will let you know if anything needs to be changed. (Whitewashing is strictly forbidden.)
